At Joshua’s House, our goal is to assist our participants to obtain an independent
and healthy life style. Our program is equipped with a variety of services to ensure
our participants to get the most out of life.

Basic Independent Living Skills
|
|
|
Participants of the program will learn basic life skills like groceries shopping
on a budget, planning and preparing a healthy meal, proper hygiene habits, budgeting
life’s expenses with a minimal salary, filling out applications, conducting healthy
relationships, resolving everyday issues, etc.

Career Development
|
|
|
Residents can choose to pursue at least an Associates degree, or acquire a career,
or both. Staff will assist residents necessary applications to finance her n'education
and organize her class schedule. Joshua’s House works with a variety of programs
to help our participants acquire a career. Participants will learn to “dress for
success” and how to perform her best at job interviews. Each participant will work
with the case manager to aim toward a long-term career.

Biblical Counseling
|
|
|
At Joshua’s House, we believe that only through Jesus Christ and His teachings can
one accomplished a healthy lifestyle. Many lives are transformed by the healing
power of Jesus, we hope that their testimonies will help residents at Joshua’s House
to have hope for her own live. Participants are encouraged to attending biblical
counseling with a spiritual leader at Heritage Christian Fellowship.

Case Management
|
|
|
Each program participants are required to meet with a case manager on a weekly or
bi-monthly basis, depend on her length of stay. Case manager will work closely with
residents to follow up on her objectives or plans for education, career, as well
as monitor residents’ progress in the program. Our case manager has had previous
case management experiences with other foster care or emancipated youth.

Mentoring Program
|
|
|
Participants are required to acquire a mentor. Each mentor is certified through
the Mariners’ Church or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church’s Mentor program. The mentors’
objectives are to be role models for our residents. They spend time with our residents
discussing about what’s important in the participants’ lives and help answer any
basic questions about relationships, career, life, etc.
